During my recent visit to Kauai, my "to do", list included a stop at the nearest Lappert's Ice Cream Store. While the price may be a liitle steep, $3 per scoop of ice cream, I couldn't resist the temptation of Lappert's Kauai Pie Ice Cream. After all, I was on vacation! I decided that I had worked too hard throughout the year to skimp on my favorite dessert. Right now I believe my waist line is expanding, as I think about the smooth creamy taste of Kona Coffee ice cream, swirled with chocolate fudge, coconut flakes, macadamia nuts, & vanilla cake crunch. Maybe I should loosen my belt a few notches.

My addiction to this delicacy is the fault of Walter and Mary Lappert. Like many couples who have vacationed in Kauai, they had dreamed of spending more than a few weeks per year in this Hawaiian paradise. So from the humble beginnings of a single ice cream machine, the Lappert's have created not only a line of super-premium ice cream, but have also developed a line of flavorful Hawaiian coffees, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls and lemon bars.

If you are planning to visit Kauai in the near future, and you enjoy desserts as much as I do, visit a Lappert's Ice Cream Store. You can always loosen your belt a few notches!
